Christian Beliefs in a Nutshell (with assessment)

This course is designed to give a short, straightforward overview of the central elements of the Christian faith, their basis in the Bible, and what they mean for life today. Centred on the Christian understanding of God, the course covers the core aspects of Christian doctrine and practice in a creative and interesting way. It is designed to work for a range of people, from those who have never been to church through to long-term members who want to refresh their understanding.

The course is based on the VET Unit of Competency CMTTHE501 Analyse and interpret Christian Scripture and theology, which is a core unit of the Diploma of Christian Ministry and Theology. Students who complete this course can receive recognition of this unit.

The course covers the core aspects of Christian doctrine, including:

  • the identity of God as Creator, Judge, Saviour, Life-Giver, and Trinity
  • Creation
  • sin and evil
  • salvation by grace
  • the Christian life
  • the church.

The course can be undertaken in one of tw0 ways:

You will be given a copy of the book used in the course as part of the course fee.

If you wish to receive a Statement of Attainment for the unit of competency covered in the course, you must complete the assessment.

The key elements of this course satisfy the requirements of the VET Unit of Competency CMTTHE501A Analyse and interpret theological beliefs in the light of current thinking. Students who satisfactorily complete assessment tasks will receive a statement of attainment for this Unit of Competency. CMTTHE501A Analyse and interpret theological beliefs in the light of current thinking is applicable to the 10434NAT Diploma of Christian Ministry and Theology, offered by St Mark’s.]
