Explore the history and practice of worship across a variety of Christian traditions, including contemporary and blended worship.
You will learn about the effects and interrelationships of rites, symbols, words, music, gesture and space in facilitating worship. Key issues considered include liturgical forms, symbol, language, music, architecture and mission. In the context of human ritual activity, the importance of worship in the formation of Christian identity is analysed.
Starting 26 February, our Introduction to Old Testament subject will be taught weekly at our Canberra campus, every Thursday morning from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm. As an Auditing student, you get to sit in and participate in lectures without needing to complete assignments. (You will therefore also receive no credit towards other awards.) You will also get access to St Mark’s theological library resources; a one-year membership worth $70 is included in the audit fee! Best of all, there are no entry requirements to participate.
Single Subject Study gives you the flexibility and the credit, without the commitment of a full degree. Each successful subject completion is creditable towards a Bachelor of Theology. As a Single Subject with CSU, you get to access all subject materials and resources through our online learning environment.
Interested? Just enrol as a Single Subject student through CSU. (Look for THL115/490 Liturgical Theology.)
