Career opportunity 

Library Manager

This is a flexible, part-time, and permanent position.

St Mark’s is seeking a proactive and visionary Library Manager to lead one of Australia’s most significant theological libraries. The Library Manager will guide a small team of committed staff and volunteers, maintain and develop high-quality collections, and ensure the library continues to support theological learning, professional ministry formation, and public theological discourse.

Key responsibilities

  • Leading and inspiring library staff and volunteers to deliver exceptional service.
  • Managing and developing print, digital, and audio-visual collections aligned with community needs.
  • Liaise with Charles Sturt University Library Services on matters relevant to the Charles Sturt University /St Mark’s partnership agreement.
    Planning for high-quality library services that support the mission of St Mark’s.
  • Overseeing library systems, technology, budgets, facilities, and risk management.
  • Promoting the library and delivering customer-focused programs, outreach, and services.
  • Contributing to the ongoing review and innovation of service delivery to support lifelong learning and public theology.

What you will bring

  • A degree in Library/Information Science or Knowledge Management
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a senior library role
  • Strong leadership, planning, and team management capabilities
  • Proficiency in managing library information systems
  • Budget management and risk oversight skills
  • A customer-first approach and a heart for the mission of St Mark’s

  • Flexible, part-time role (45 hours per fortnight)
  • Hourly rate from $37 – $39 (plus 11.5% super) depending on experience

The successful candidate will be required to hold a current ACT Working with Vulnerable People registration and a satisfactory background check conducted by our HR team.
