Theological Studies

MASTER DEGREE

Interested in deepening your faith and engaging with serious Christian thought? Already have an undergraduate degree in another discipline? Then the Master of Arts (Theological Studies) from Charles Sturt University is for you. With flexible modes of study, this course will give you a thorough overview of the Bible, Christian theology, church history, and Christian ministry and practice.

You’ll deepen your knowledge, prepare to follow your calling, and build foundations for further learning or research.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must meet the following requirements:
  • Applicants must hold an undergraduate degree from an approved tertiary institution, other than an undergraduate degree in Theology.

CREDIT ARRANGEMENT

  • Credit may be considered for Systematic Theology, Biblical Studies, Church History and Practical Theology subjects successfully completed at other institutions at the graduate level.
  • Standard Charles Sturt University Credit Policy apply.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, graduates will:

  1. Be able to demonstrate advanced knowledge of the breadth of theological sub-disciplines
  2. Be able to demonstrate critical insight into the sources, history and contemporary expressions of Christian faith
  3. Be able to analyse and evaluate the contribution of theology to social and cultural concerns
  4. Be able to creatively apply advanced theological insights to complex issues in professional ministerial or community contexts
  5. Be able to articulate and communicate complex theological concepts and ideas to specialist and non-specialist audiences
  6. Be able to demonstrate knowledge of research methods used in the theological sub-disciplines
  7. Be able to plan and execute a substantial research based project, capstone experience and/or piece of scholarship
Articulated Set

The Master, Graduate Diploma and Graduate Certificate make up an articulated set of courses and credit is given in each higher level course for the subjects completed in the lower.
