Have you ever sat with someone who truly listened — not just to your words, but to what God might be doing in your life? That's the art at the heart of spiritual direction, and St Mark's is offering an intensive to help you develop it.
Taught by Dr Jacqueline Service, Spiritual Direction in the Christian Tradition is an upcoming subject for anyone wanting to explore this ancient ministry — whether you're considering offering spiritual direction yourself, looking to deepen your own prayer life, or simply curious about how Christians across the centuries have accompanied one another in faith.
Drawing on the rich history of Christian spirituality, the intensive covers the theological foundations of spiritual direction alongside its very practical dimensions. You'll encounter major spiritual writers and schools of thought, and explore a wide range of prayer practices — from Scripture and meditation to journalling, art, dreams, and the labyrinth. There's also frank attention to the real-world practicalities of the director's role: ethics, supervision, and what it means to create space where genuine discernment can happen.
It's an intensive designed not just to inform but to form — equipping you to listen more attentively to God and to walk alongside others with greater wisdom and care.
This subject will be available in Session 2, with enrolments opening soon. Use the link below to submit an expression of interest.
