Library membership

St Mark’s Library is one of Australia’s largest theological libraries and the largest in the ACT, holding over 100,000 items across theology, biblical studies, church history, missiology, and the ancient world.

The Library houses several notable collections, including the personal library of Bishop Ernest Burgmann, the complete missiological collection of Dr Alan R. Tippett, the Bible Society of Australia Collection, facsimiles of several ancient biblical manuscripts, and one of the most significant collections of Australian church history in the sector.

We welcome students, scholars, clergy, alumni, and members of the wider community through a range of membership options. 

Membership includes:

  • Access to the Library’s physical collections (print books and journals)
  • Use of the library’s study and reading spaces
  • Access to key scholarly journals held in print
  • Four-week loan period for borrowed items
  • Up to two renewals per borrowed item, subject to availability
  • Free wi-fi access on campus
 

Please note: Some memberships may include access to online databases and inter-library loan services. Eligibility varies by membership type.  Please refer to both the Membership overview table as well as more detailed information under each membership type.

A signed referral letter from an authorised representative is required.

Reciprocal borrowing scheme membership

St Mark’s Library participates in both the ULANZ (University Libraries of Australia & New Zealand) and ACTUAL (Australian Capital Territory Universities & Academic Libraries) reciprocal borrowing schemes. Eligible members of participating institutions may register to borrow from the library in-person. Inter-library loans and access to online databases are provided through the member’s home institution, where available.
