St Mark’s Dr Jeanette Mathews will be heading a three-week study tour in the Holy Lands from 1 to 21 June 2019.
Rev’d Dr Jeanette Mathews, who teaches Old Testament studies and biblical languages at CSU’s School of Theology, will be conducting a study tour in the Holy Lands that will cover the significant archaeological dig site of Bethsaida before continuing further to Israel, Palestine, and Jordan.
The study tour will begin with four days in Bethsaida where students will be introduced to elementary tenets of biblical fieldwork archaeology through hands-on practice, expertise, guidance and lectures.
This will be followed by visits to selected sites in Israel and Palestine, including museums and religious sites. The tour will conclude with a four-day visit to relevant sites in Jordan, including Wadi Rum, Petra, Madaba, Amman, and Jerash.
There is a limit of 25 places for this study tour.
Students enrolled through the School of Theology or in the Bachelor of Liberal Studies at the time of undertaking this study tour are given priority. Bachelor and Graduate Diploma of Theology Students may be eligible to receive academic recognition for CSU subject THL361 or THL427 respectively for their participation in this program.
This tour is open to friends and students of St Mark’s, but spaces are limited and priority will naturally be given to CSU students.
Approximately $11,000.00.
(This estimated cost is based on the provision of the $450 Vice Chancellor Travel Grant. Eligibility is restricted to CSU students receiving academic recognition for their participation in the program. This Grant is not paid directly to students but has already been deducted from the advertised program cost.)
