A safe community
to learn about God

St Mark’s is a scholarly Christian theological community, serving Australian society since 1957. We are passionate about the practical connection of theological principles to public and private life, while championing intellectual rigour in the pursuit of academic excellence.

About us

St Mark’s is a scholarly Christian theological community serving Australian society since 1957. We are passionate about the practical connection of theological principles to public and private life while championing intellectual rigour in the pursuit of academic excellence.

Thriving in diversity

Our students come from a wide range of backgrounds, cultures, countries, and convictions, creating a rich and vibrant educational environment. Our students and lecturers also come from all stripes of Christianity —Anglicans, Baptists, Catholics, Evangelicals, non-denominational and independents, and more. Many are already in ministry, just starting out, or working in corporate or para-church organisations. We love the diversity, and welcome the dialogue.

The freedom to explore honestly

Some of our students come with questions they’ve otherwise felt uncomfortable asking for fear of judgment, reprisal, or misunderstanding. Yet theology is the study of God, of coming to better understand the mysterious and embrace unknowns. Theology is “faith seeking understanding in the presence of others.” If you have questions and seek a safe, spiritual community with which to dive deep, St Mark’s may be just the home for you.

Flexible study options

Our courses are delivered primarily online, offering students a flexible learning environment for busy lives. In fact, St Mark’s, through its partnership with Charles Sturt University, is one of the most experienced educational institutions in Australia to offer theological and ministry studies online. Many of our courses also offer face-to-face learning opportunities, either through a blend of classroom and online learning or through short bursts of intensives.

Nationally recognised, academically rigorous

St Mark’s is a Registered Training Organisation and offers Nationally Recognised Training in counselling, professional supervision, and ministry and theology under the auspices of the Australian Skills Quality Authority Standards for VET qualifications. We also specialise in the formation and training of priests and deacons for the Anglican Church.

St Mark’s has been a partner in the School of Theology at Charles Sturt University (CSU) since 1996. Through this association, St Mark’s offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in theology, ministry, ageing and pastoral studies, and pastoral counselling.
