Description

The Author
Robert Douglas William Draffan was born in 1944 within sight of Lake Nakuru in Kenya. It proved to be appropriate birthplace for an enthusiastic life-long ornithologist. Robert's early years in Kenya were idyllic. With his big sister Barbara and little brother Nigel, Robert thrived outdoors where hippopotamus, giraffe, zebra, warthogs, hyrax and exotic birds were part of everyday life. He completed his primary education in Kenya before heading to England where he gained farm experience in Scotland and at Agricultural College in Cirencester. Robert recreational pursuits included rock and mountain climbing and cross-country skiing.

Britain proved too small to encompass his expansive spirit of adventure and Robert immigrated to Australia. As a jackeroo at Cobungra Station, Robert embraced the Man from Snowy River lifestyle in Victoria's high country. On horseback he was part of a team that drove cattle over the mountains by moonlight. They camped in the bush and by morning broke the ice that formed on their oilskin coats. In Melbourne, Robert attended the 1959 Billy Graham Crusade and recommitted his life to God. This decision led eventually to theological college studies and ordination into the ministry of the Anglican Church of Australia.
Publishers Note

This book is an edited reproduction of an uncompleted manuscript compiled by the Reverend Robert Draffan shortly before his sudden death. Other than stylistic alterations and some alterations to layout, the text has not been changed. It appears in the original format to give a sense of the author's style and intent. The areas where the manuscript remained incomplete are evident throughout the text and no effort has been made to interpolate or extrapolate possible interpretations or conclusions. The manuscript has been published as a tribute to Robert Draffan and honours the development of his thinking and his personal reflection on Jesus and prophecy.
