The ANU paper was an exploration of a spiritual connection with the land, that sacred bond Aboriginal people have with country, upon which all our lives depend through the metaphor — and lived experience — of walking. Geoff explored the idea of walking as sacred in Scripture (e.g. walking with God, walking by the Spirit) and Brooke explored walking as sacred through the Aboriginal songlines. Together these physically, culturally, and spiritually dimensions of walking as sacred were drawn together for Aboriginal and nonAboriginal Peoples walking together in the following ways:

1. ‘learning to walk’ with Aboriginal Peoples (1 Thess. 4:1)
2. ‘walking carefully’ by respecting country; walking softly and gently on another’s country (Eph. 5:15)
3. ‘walking in the light’ by discerning the truth of the past (Rom 12:13)
4. ‘walking a straight path’ through honest speaking and relating; walking together in rallies and marches for justice (Gal: 2:14)
5. ‘walking in another’s footsteps’ in becoming a guest, not a host; walking in the footsteps of ancestors (2 Cor. 12:18)
6. ‘walking slowly’ and deep listening; walking together in friendship as reconciliation (2 Thess. 3:6).
7. ‘putting shoes/boots on (off?) your feet’ and getting out on country (Eph. 6:15)
